Granite composite sinks are the result of recent technological advances in the sink industry. These sinks are composed of granite or quartz composite and acrylic. These sinks are available in different colors; the most popular being black, brown and white. They are more expensive than stainless steel sinks, but also offer more benefits. Both sink types are available in different shapes and styles and for topmount or undermount installations. Topmount sinks are typically used with non-solid surface countertops such as laminate or formica. These types of countertops can’t have undermount sinks due to the fact that water would get into the countertop and cause damage. Undermount sinks are used with solid surface countertops such as granite and marble. The standard is that topmount installations are far less expensive than undermount installations. Search the market and you should be able to find a good sink in your price range.

MIC and Cracking of Mild and Stainless Steels $148.16 Microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIe is basically an electrochemical corrosion in which the extent and severity of the corrosion process is determined by organisms such as, but not limited to, bacteria. This work will discuss both electrochemical and mechanical features of MIC of three types of steels of frequent use, that is, mild, stainless and duplex stainless steels. The bacteria investigated in this study are singletype cultures of marine isolates of sulphate reducing bacteria, iron reducing bacteria as well as their mixed cultures. This is important because in nature, it is the impact of mixed communities of bacteria that can affect corrosion of engineering materials. Also, to the best knowledge of this author, for the first time the stress corrosion cracking of these steels in biotic cultures containing these bacteria have been characterised and compared with abiotic environments.
