electro polishing versus etching comparison of these two processes in relation to stainless steel 304?
I am assuming that the question is what is the difference between polishing and etching.
Polishing will just tend to smooth out the surface, but etching will preferentially remove the “softer” parts, where “softness” is a function of the etchant.
Etching is usually better if you want to look at the steel under a microscope, because you can better see grain boundaries etc.
