For Non Yankee fans: Would you want your team to up their payroll to $200 million+ if they could?
This would mean that your team would be more successful but also that your team would inevitably be hated and accused of buying your championships by many people. Would it be worth it?
[I say no. I would never want the Red Sox to spend as much as the Yankees do. Part of me was glad when they didn't get Teixeira or A-Rod for this reason.]

I would love to see a cap of about $150 million and a floor of $75 million. The quality of the teams would balance out quite a bit. It just gets ridiculous when guys are making $20-25 million a year. Sabathia is getting about 22 this year and Beckett got 11.5 million. Is there really THAT much of a difference in their numbers? I’m not saying Sabathia sucks by any means but is he really worth 2x what Beckett gets?
Cashman isn’t even a good GM, how hard is it to write a bigger check? I’d love to see what he does on a budget, he probably couldn’t put a good team together if he actually had to manage money.
