Seiko Black Monster
This is the famous ~BM~ Seiko Black Monster Automatic Dive Watch. This is the dark sister of the Orange Monster, in a more subdued hue. The Seiko SKX781 boasts a pure black dial, with an impressive profile.
It’s not every watch that gets a nickname and world wide fan club. This watch has earned its place at the top. The Black Monster is a day/date 200M diver. This performance dive watch has Legendary appeal and remains a classic among Divers.
The serrated teeth along the uni-directional bezel give this watch an edgy look. This feature also makes it perfect for diving applications, especially with gloves on. The tapered bezel also acts to protect the stratch-resistant hardlex crystal face.
Hardlex is suggested to be less scratch resistant than sapphire crystal, but will withstand greater direct impact. Given the raised bezel design of the Black Monster, scratch resistance vs. impaction need not be a factor in your selection as it is well designed for protection.
You can feel the caliber of this watch. For instance, the sculpted rotating bezel has a precision alignment dial, like unlocking a safe that clicks perfectly into place. The crown is one solid piece of lock-down hardware.
This 21-Jewel automatic diver is a spring wound auto-wind so it will never require a battery. This is Seiko technology at its finest, powered by the simple movement of your wrist.
The Black Monster is available as a rubber dive strap or brushed stainless steel band, with a triple-lock deployment clasp for your wetsuit. The black rubber sport strap looks particularly striking in combination with the black dial.
Given the large size and full metal construction, this Black Monster looks more expensive than it actually is. The brushed stainless and serrated bezel offer this unique look as a high profile timepiece and classic dive watch.
